Little Princess Trust and Frobishers

It can be challenging for young people with Alopecia at school, so Frobishers have been busy introducing families together who have younger children suffering from Alopecia.  It is very difficult for younger children to understand why they have no hair and why they are different to other children.  It can also be isolating for mums and dads.

Young people are referred to us from the Little Princess Trust who are in need of a wig. The Little Princess Trust was established in 2006. They provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people up to the age of 24, who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other conditions. The wigs are of exceptional quality and have been professionally designed for a natural appearance. They have a wide range of sizes, specifically made for children and young people to give you them a perfect fit and comfort. There is no cost to the family. The Little Princess Trust covers the full cost of the wig, the fitting and styling.

Following a discussion between a family member and a member of our team, either Shelley or Claire. They will help select a wig to match their natural hair colour and size as closely as possible. The wigs are then ordered from the Little Princess Trust. When these arrive Frobishers invites the young person and their family to come in for a try on session. If the wigs need any styling or cutting our hairdresser Tanya is happy to style them. Our aim is for all our young people to leave the showroom extremely happy with their new hair.

Here at Frobishers we had some of our younger children who we have seen from the Little Princess Trust with their parents attend one of our social get togethers. They had a chance to try on wigs, mix with other younger children, share knowledge and give each other support. Parents also found it extremely supportive!! Primary school can be a tough place but making friends now can help them when they transfer to High School.

Lots of arrangements have been made by these families to get together during this summer break and hopefully life long friendships are made.

If you would like to, or know of anyone who would like to take part in any of our future get togethers please contact a member of our team, we are very happy to offer support to all those with Alopecia.
